Shadows and Pods collection
My work has been evolving from my adoration and fascination with seeds and seed pods, as well as shadows, roots, crevices, and other such places for small things to hide. The seed pod is particularly interesting to me in that it is a protective place from which a reproductive product is ejected into the world. The hole that is left behind retains the skeletal, sculptural shape that is at once beautiful and haunting. I think about this idea more and more since becoming a mother, both in physical terms but also in philosophical ones. As we did, and as our own children grow and move into the world, what hole is left behind?
