Paintings > The Forest and the Flame collection

In Anglo Saxon history, people bid farewell to the deceased by placing them on a boat atop a pile of twigs and branches, lighting the natural materials with fire, and sending the boat to sea. This painting also evokes the ritual burning of photographs and love letters after a breakup, of nature's roaring destruction after a lightning storm, of simultaneous emotions of despair and release.
